Exalted: In A Mirror Darkly
Long had he walked the desert sands. He had walked so long, and so far, and then he had turned around and walked back again. The sand had blasted away his clothes, until he was clad only in strips of cloth. His hair grew behind him, a wild, unkempt mass. The mountains to the south spat fire and ash into the air, and burning him and choking him. The dry desert air had cracked his skin. And the Sun… The unforgiving Sun…
And then, he Felt it. It was quick, lasting only an instant, but he had felt them. He had hoped. He had prayed for this, but now he knew. Knew for certain. He dropped to his knees, and began to laugh, hot tears streaming down his face. His brothers and sisters were coming back. At last, he would be able to fulfill his duty, and set them free. The desert wind blew sand over his tracks…slowly covering the sandy green glass that formed, still cooling, where his feet had fallen.
